Presenting our partner: Luminus, Jordan
The famous hotellerie school Luminus, in Amman, is our partner for barista courses in Jordan.
We are very pleased to dedicate some posts of our News area to presenting the partners of the Italian Barista Method in the world. It’s a way of thanking and promoting the structures that embrace the IBM philosophy around the world and that allow us to spread a message we believe in.
One of these, and one of the first to believe in the Italian Barista Method protocol, is the Luminus Technical University College in Amman, Jordan.
We have to say, in full honesty, that Luminus is much more than an IBM authorized center. In fact, since 1999, Luminus Technical University College has graduated over 40,000 students in many different areas, from culinary to hotellerie, reception, bartending, management and all segments of the hospitality market.
The students of Luminus come from 23 countries and have an employment placement rate of over 80 percent.
It was in 2019 that Luminus decided to also provide its students with certified coffee courses in Jordan, and contacted the IBM headquarters to evaluate a collaboration. A few months later, the first basic barista course in Jordan started, followed by advanced barista and Latte Art courses, still in amman, all under the IBM protocol.
Gabriele and Robert, two trainers of IBM HQ, has hold, directly in Jordan, the first courses of barista certified in Middle East, courses that immediately started to attract boys and girls from the whole middle east, many of them already working in coffee shops, and willing improve their skills and many beginners, willing to move their first steps in the coffee world.
Mohammad Hdaib is the head trainer for the coffee area of Luminus. He started his relationship with IBM, just after the “train the trainer” course, with a great SLAM!
In fact he became the world record holder of the “Barista Time trial” beating the prevous result of Simone Celli with the chrono of 4’45”. The record of Mohammad has resisted for 4 years, since when, in 2023, has been beat by the Mexican Fernando Axel Cárdenas Arroyo, in 4’19”.
But we are sure that, At the end of every IBM coffee course in Jordan, Mohammad is taking his time to train, preparing himself to beat the record once again!
In the meantime, for sure, is beating another record, holding the best barista courses in Jordan, and we are very proud to work with him!
